Due to the fact that Montenegro is leading in the region with mass testing for COVID 19, which is very important in the context of epidemic surveillance, EC President Ursula von der Leyen praised the Ministry of Health of Montenegro. For these reasons, the President of the European Commission stressed that she expects a positive response to Montenegro’s request to join the EU digital COVID certification system.
On that occasion, Von der Layen explained that the certificate is currently applied in 45 countries and that it is especially important in the field of tourism.
The Minister of Health of Montenegro, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, emphasized that Montenegro already has a National Digital COVID certificate, with the same data as the European Digital Certificate, which are all tools in successfully overcoming the epidemic.
“We hope that the EU digital covid certificate will be the first document of the European Union that our citizens will use on an equal footing with your citizens. “In that sense, Montenegrin health care will be part of the EU, we believe, even before the official reception, which the whole society is looking forward to,” the Minister of Health concluded, as reported by CDM.
